Sunny Acres Ranch made the Capital Press!
In March, I was contacted by a freelance reporter for the Capital Press. She had found this website from reviewing rescues listed on Petfinder.com. She contacted me and asked to do a human interest story about Sunny Acres, the horses we are helping, and what the goal is for the horses I take in. This was my first interview, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The reporter was very interested in the horses and in the fact that horses are still being shipped to slaughter every day here in America in spite of the fact it has been banned in the USA.

It has been a great Spring in 2008! Long-time resident at Sunny Acres Ranch, (Ginger), finally found her forever home!
She now belongs to a 13-year-old boy who is becoming a much better horseman thanks to Ginger's guidance.

In February, Sunny Acres took in 5 horses whose owners needed some help. All five are registered!
Three of the five have been adopted. Tessa and Belle (both gorgeous Thoroughbred mares),
and Splash (a cute little Quarter Horse mare).

Another one of the five, (Rello) is a 4-year-old Thoroughbred gelding who was sired by Northern Afleet!
(Northern Afleet won over $600,000 on the track!) Rello sold for $10,000 as a yearling, but he was never raced due to
an accident that left him with some lingering physical trauma issues. He is currently in rehabilitation and has a long
road ahead of him for full recovery. We are hopeful that he will make a nice English Pleasure or trail horse in the future.

The last horse of the five that came in February is a little Arabian mare named Dancer. She is phenomenal with children and has
lots of patience. She participated in a kiddie day camp during Spring Break, and was ridden by children as small as 5-years-old.
The children started requesting Dancer to be their mount for the day. She is now available for lease, half lease and lessons.
Here is a picture of Dancer at the kiddie day camp.
